Chase Burns' Nine Strikeouts Power Reds to 4-1 Win Over Phillies
Reds Right-Hander Chase Burns Dominates Phillies in 4-1 Victory
Chase Burns allowed one run over six innings and struck out nine batters as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 on Tuesday night. The right-hander permitted a solo home run to Trea Turner in the third inning and retired the side in the sixth after fielding a line drive from Bryce Harper. Burns improved to 6-1 with a 1.83 ERA.
The victory ended a three-game losing streak for the Reds and moved their record to 25-24, just above .500. Tony Santillan recorded the final three outs for his second save of the season. The Phillies had their five-game winning streak snapped in the defeat.
Burns surrendered three hits and issued no walks while generating 18 swings and misses. The 23-year-old right-hander has allowed two or fewer runs in nine of his 10 starts this season. He has permitted one or fewer runs in seven of those outings.
The Reds will start left-hander Andrew Abbott against Philadelphia right-hander Aaron Nola on Wednesday.
