Stanton Steals First Base Since 2020 in Yankees' 9-7 Win

New York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton recorded his first stolen base since 2020 during a 9-7 victory over the Miami Marlins on April 4, 2026, at Yankee Stadium. The 36-year-old Stanton swiped second base in the bottom of the seventh inning with J.C. Escarra at the plate and Miami pitcher Calvin Faucher on the mound. He slid in safe and later scored on a wild pitch from Faucher.

Stanton, who primarily serves as the Yankees' designated hitter and rarely runs the bases, entered the game with 42 career stolen bases. His previous high was 13 in 2014 while with the Marlins. His last steal before Saturday came on Aug. 3, 2020, against the Philadelphia Phillies.

At the plate, Stanton went 1-for-3 with two RBI as New York rallied from a 4-0 deficit. Randal Grichuk replaced him as a pinch-runner later in the game. "If they’re going to give it to me like that, I’ve got to go get it," Stanton said afterward. "I’m going to take what they give me and understand where I’m at each day."
