Hamstring Injury Sidelines 49ers' Deebo Samuel For Weeks
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. will miss "at least a couple of weeks" after suffering a hamstring injury during Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks, head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters. Samuel was ruled out in the third quarter after the injury occurred on a play near the sideline.
Samuel went down while running toward the sideline and fumbled the ball as he fell. Team medical staff attended to him on the field, and he was able to walk off on his own, holding his right leg before being officially ruled out for the remainder of the game. bandy weddenschappen
The injury compounded a difficult afternoon for San Francisco in Seattle. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw was ejected in the second quarter after headbutting Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones IV during a sideline altercation that followed a late hit on Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold. Samuel is playing his first season back with the 49ers after spending last season with the Washington Commanders, where he recorded 72 catches for 727 yards and five touchdowns. He returned to San Francisco this offseason on a one-year contract.
With Samuel out, Brandin Cooks - who caught a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter - figures to see an increased share of targets in the receiving game. The 49ers will provide further updates on Samuel's timeline as the team assesses the severity of the injury in the coming days.
